Several weeks ago Denise of Marriage Is Our Ministry posted an experience in which her husband called her via face-time and she quickly snatched her head scarf off and added a little chap-stick or lip gloss to her lips. Her experience reminded me that I have far too many days at home when I don't get dressed or attempt to get dressed let alone put on a coat of lip gloss. Denise and I thought this act of self-care was so necessary that we plotted, prayed, searched scripture and decided that we would encourage other women to DUMP THE FRUMP too!
Our royalty is not based on the shade of lipstick or the height of our heels. Our royalty is not based on the carat size of our rings or the amount of people that view our live stream on social media. Our royalty is not measured by the amount of zero's found in our salary. Our royalty is rooted in Jesus Christ. Our royalty is rooted in the Word of God.
On Sunday, March 12, 2017 we are launching a 14-day campaign for women by women to encourage and challenge each other to DUMP THE FRUMP. We are challenging ourselves and each other to give God, ourselves, our spouses, and/or our children OUR BEST - NOT WHAT'S LEFT over!
As a stay at home/work from home mom and wife getting dressed has been the very last thing I consider doing since i'm just going to sit (work, cook, clean, do laundry, blog, dream, crochet, study God's word, connect with my peeps on social media, and/or prepare for the next day...) in the house all day! But when I consider why I make this decision I have to be honest that it is partly due to a history of being sexually assaulted and treated like I was not valuable! Getting up, showering, getting dressed, and even sliding a little gloss 'cross my lips is an act of rebellion and resistance to that trauma!
I do believe this daily act of resistance if done in the love and spirit of God can revolutionize our lives, our homes, our workplaces, and our communities! If you would like to #DumpTheFrump please join us here
God bless, empower, keep, and inspire you to share your BEST with The Lord, yourself, your spouse, your children, and/or your communities!
